Communities In Schools of the South Plains® Receives $2,500 Grant for Emergency Fund 

 Communities In Schools of the South Plains® (CIS-SP®) has received a $2,500 grant from the Community Foundation of West Texas to fund the CIS-SP® Emergency Fund which provides one-time, emergency assistance to students enrolled in CIS-SP® services and their families. The Community Foundation of West Texas grant will be used to help students in local elementary, middle, and high schools with hygiene items as well as utilities, rent, and transportation assistance. The objective is simply to help as many students as possible through situations beyond their control. 

Communities In Schools of the South Plains® is a nonprofit organization serving Lubbock, Texas, and the surrounding rural communities with the tools necessary for students aged 5-18 to stay in school and succeed in life. Formed in 1999, CIS-SP® has grown to serve 92 schools across 13 districts. The mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stary in school and achieve in life. 

Established in 1981, the Community Foundation of West Texas is a regional philanthropic entity created by and for the people of the Texas South Plains region. The Community Foundation exists to improve quality of life in this region by helping area donors to give in ways that make an enduring impact on their community. In 2023, the Community Foundation and its affiliates awarded more than $3.7 million in grants and scholarships, funding projects of hundreds of nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies.
