Development & Community Engagement Manager

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Development & Community Engagement Manager supports donor engagement, communications, and fundraising activities for Communities In Schools of the South Plains. This role provides hands-on support for donor communications, digital engagement, giving programs, and events. The Manager works under the direction of the Chief Growth Officer and collaborates with internal teams, site coordinators, and external partners to strengthen community connections and share the impact of CIS.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications & Digital Engagement

  • Support CIS communications efforts, including e-newsletters, social media, annual reports, website updates, and mailing list maintenance.
  • Develop creative, mission-aligned ways to share the impact of CIS with donors, partners, and the broader community.
  • Coordinate social media content, including photoshoots and content development in collaboration with an external agency partner.

Donor Stewardship & Giving Programs

  • Support donor stewardship activities, including timely donation acknowledgments and ongoing donor communications.
  • Assist with the promotion and support of the monthly giving program, including sharing impact stories, stewardship communications, and basic tracking.
  • Maintain organized donor records to support engagement and reporting needs.

Sponsorship & Community Engagement

  • Promote and coordinate the School Sponsorship Program by working closely with site coordinators to identify and connect with potential donors.
  • Support sponsorship fulfillment, including sponsor recognition, coordinating sponsor engagement opportunities and documentation.
  • Represent CIS at donor events and check presentations, helping strengthen relationships and communicate impact.

Event Support

  • Provide logistical and on-site support for donor-sponsored and community events, including the Chess Tournament, LaceUp806, and other events as needed.
  • Assist with event setup, coordination, photography support, and post-event follow-up communications.

Coordination & Administration

  • Compile basic reports and assist with data tracking as requested.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the successful operation and growth of CIS-SP®.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree plus one-year related experience in communications, nonprofit support, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to connect and engage with stakeholders, community members and donors
  • Experience with social media platforms, email marketing platforms, Canva, CRMs, event management platforms, and basic content management preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Interest in mission-driven, community-based work.
